Experience
I am a tutor from Corum, New York with a passion for traveling and learning about new cultures. I am a native of Spain, and travel there every year. My true passion is in teaching Spanish and ESL to middle and high school students. I have spent the last 5 years teaching in a formal setting. My immersion and love of the Spanish culture and language has sparked a lifelong commitment to helping my students fully understand other cultures and effectively speak other languages. I approach learning with the mindset that every student learns differently, and it is my job to tailor their learning experience to their abilities and learning style. I hold an undergraduate degree in both Adolescent Education and Spanish from SUNY New Paltz, and a master's degree in School Counseling from the New York Institute of Technology. I also have a Teaching Certification for grades 7-12. It is a welcomed challenged for me to encourage curiosity and confidence by providing tailored instruction to meet the specific goals of each student. I use empathy to relate to my students, and gauge their level of understanding of the material. I understand the challenges that arise when a student is transitioning to a new country and culture. I use real world situations to communicate with students in a way that is authentic and relatable. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, singing, music and theater.
